What if you could choose from a rack full of premium, designer dresses that were current, well-edited and insanely affordable? They’re all in your size and you can get them right away. Sure, you can wear it to that wedding (or hot date, company dinner, girl’s night out, trip to Vegas, etc.) coming up this weekend and then wear a different one next week? Yep, it’s a new service and kind of similar to Netflix, except this is for designer dresses.
The stylists behind Rent the Runway provide of-the-moment, hot-off-the-runway dresses, that are available to rent for as little as $50. Uh-huh. That’s right, 50 bucks gets you a Catherine Malandrino, Milly, Halston Heritage, Vena Cava, Helmut Lang or other big name dresses to have, to hold and to wear for 4-8 days. They’ll even send it to you in two sizes (0-12), just to get the fit right. When you’re done, you return it and pop the dress in the pre-paid, mailing envelope (don’t even worry about cleaning it, that’s their job) and you’re done. I love this and I’ve already signed up for it, because I think it’s brilliant.
Rentals prices go from $50 – $250 and are priced according to the original retail price. If you’ve ever wanted to make an entrance in a $2000 dress from Proenza Schouler or Herve Legere, now’s your chance. You won’t even have to break the bank to do it.
Stayed tuned, Rent the Runway says Missoni will join the line-up in late summer and they’re working on adding accessories. And by accessories, I hope they mean Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and pretty clutches.
