American Woman

The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute threw a doozy of a ball, themed American Woman, on May 3rd, complete with glittering fashion royalty. Lots of bold face names walked the red carpet and I was excited to see many of the young, next generation designers there with high-profile dates, such as Oprah Winfrey who co-chaired with Patrick Robinson, the men of Proenza Schouler with Chloe Sevigny, Alexander Wang with Zoe Kravitz and M.I.A., Philip Lim with Alexa Chung, and Peter Som with Zoe Kazan.

There are too many pictures to show you here, but feel free to jump on over to to see the full red carpet dress parade. It is serious dress p@rn for all of us fashion geeks. I usually choose pictures where the woman takes center stage and not just the dress. It’s amazing how seldom this happens. Here are my favorites:

Demi Moore in Lanvin

Philip Lim with Alexa Chung, in 3.1 Philip Lim

Viola Davis in Vera Wang

Chanel Iman in Micheal Kors

Taylor Swift in Ralph Lauren

Lily Donaldson in Marc Jacobs

Emma Roberts in Marni

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad

Celebrities and models weren’t the only ones looking hot. Check out these pictures of Vera Wang and Donna Karan, both in white. What kind of youth Kool-Aid are they drinking?! Whoa, they look good.

Vera Wang and Mila Kunis, in Vera Wang

Donna Karan in her own design

There are a hundred drool-worthy pictures of this event. So if you need more, jump on over to here for full coverage.
