Nothing New – Day 28

Plaid + Bomber

Plaid + Bomber

Wearing: Zara bomber jacket / J. Crew plaid shirt / Loft bootcut jeans / Dolce Vita boots / Sundance leather & silver necklace.

Spring outfit, fall outfit. This one could go either way and I’ll probably resurrect it in about 120 days.

The plaid shirt is brushed cotton and so soft. That’s one thing that I’m becoming more picky about, fabrics and how they feel on my skin. It’s like when my kiddo was three years old and would only wear certain socks that didn’t have an “ouchy” seam across the top. I think we had two pairs that were “okay” and this went on for about 6 months. Well, I’m getting to be a little toddler-ish too. Funny how that happens.

What are you particular about?

Out Like a Lamb

If March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, it’s about time for that lamb to show up, graze around and settle in for spring. In Boulder, weather-wise we are about a month behind other parts of the U.S. As I walk the neighborhood, I see crocus beginning to pop up and spreading their petals out from under light snow. Nearly everyone I run into is giddy about warmer temperatures. So today, I felt drawn toward this street style photo of Helena Bordon at the recent Paris fashion shows in her floral coat. She is a breath of spring incarnate.

Florals are big every spring, but this year’s crop of flowers is more edgy than classic. Designers are taking some of the sweetness out of floral patterns by deconstructing the print, using neon colors, or coating the fabric for high shine. I like looking to the runways to see the mood of what will be coming into stores.  Here are some of my favorites from the Spring 2014 runways.

There are over 500 looks from Spring 2014 on my Pinterest board. If you like these, it’s a wonderful place to see all the spring trends and find tons of inspiration.

Floral accessories always catch my eye as a great way to add life to your outfit and celebrate the return of warm weather. If you’d like just a taste of floral, these products satisfy the craving.

Fancy That

Elie Saab embellished top

Elie Saab Fall 2013

We’re getting to that point in the year, when time starts to pass at lightning speed. You’ll probably have more kids’ school concerts, after-work parties and holiday open houses to go to, than in all the other months combined. Which is kind of great, right?! You’ll get to blow-off some steam, socialize and procrastinate on finding gifts a bit longer. It also means having something casual-but-dressy to wear, which is why I’m throwing these fancy sweatshirts sweaters at you. Dress ’em up, or dress ’em down and they look good every which way.

These embellished sweatshirts are equally as happy with skirts, as they are with dress pants. Then on the weekend, pair one up with jeans. The crewneck keeps you covered (and warm), while the slouchiness and print make it interesting. Got a trip coming up? It could be worn on the plane, out for dinner that night and then again for ice skating with your kids, etc. Anyway, you get it. It’s a multi-tasker.

Be well,
