When I saw this street style shot from Pics by Polka Dot, it just made me want to see if I could shop it for the blog. Plus, having just done a post on yellow accents (Bloomin’ Yellow), the timing was perfect for this inspiration.
You might be able to thrift a similar denim dress to the look above, since it’s such a classic look. I’m guessing that Banana Republic and Gap have done something similar recently. If you can’t find one though, the dresses I sourced from Current/Elliott and Tory Burch have really good lines and could be worn for years. Check out the detail on the Current/Elliott dress — it even has a frayed hem (so cute).
The yellow sandals shown above are alright, but I think this outfit would look even better with a pair of Frye clog sandals or the Aldo two-tone sandals with the metallic-detailed toe (shown below). What do you think? Which ones do you like better? That mustard strap on the Aldos has just the right amount of sass, in my opinion, but I’m a sucker for Frye shoes. I’d have to try them both on to really decide.
Finish the look off with a tan belt and structured satchel and you’re street style ready.
Send me a link to your blog if you try out this look for yourself. I’d love to see how you style it up and make it your own. Kudos to Street Style London / Pics by Polka Dot for the amazing photography. See more here.
Have a great day, lovelies!

New York Fashion Week starts today and I can’t wait to see what’s rolling out on the runway for Spring 2011. If you’re interested, you can see the Fashion Week calendar for who’s showing when and also see the collections at Style.com.
Back here in the land of fall fashion choices, you can’t go wrong with a crossbody bag these days. You can pick a small one or a big one depending on your need and you’ll be hands-free, which in and of itself is a liberating notion. Think of it, one hand can be on your phone (of course) and the other can be doing God knows what…making mischief, holding someone’s hand, looking for keys, riding a bike, squeezing fruit or holding your latte (of course). I mean the possibilities are endless, which is why I think you’ll like having one. Some of the styles shown harken to a 70s vibe, while others go sleek or even rocker. There’s something here for everyone and I’d pair these looks with military, aviator, layered knits or something laid-back.

Have a great one!

Now these are seriously cool. Much cooler than a flip-flop, yet still as comfortable. The Tory Burch Blinda Anklet Thong offers slouchy stability and a cute zipper up the back. They go for about $250. What do you think of them? You’ll be seeing cuffed sandals like these around this Spring/Summer as a fashion forward item. They’d look great with an ikat or safari-inspired dress for day or weekend. Good for kicking around town, lunch with friends and farmer’s markets.
The Look Alikes:
BP Costa Rica Sandal, $40 in Sand.
Chinese Laundry Cuffed Suede Sandal, $69 in black and toast.
Dolce Vita Folded Cuff Flat Sandal, $250 in black.
Candela Stud Tie-Back Thong Sandal, $216 in black, brown.
